Impresionism

Monet was the first one to start Impressionism in the early 1800’s. Monet, Pissaarro, Sislay and Degas was part of a french group. They used to paint historical subjects, religious themes and portraits. In their paintings you can see very small think brush strokes and they emphasised on the direction of light. The finishing work looked very realistic and you can see the emotion and the personality.

Salon De Paris is where they used to exhibit there work. Not every artist used to paint the same, some used to paint with more light and one with not much light. They used to paint what they see but with a twist and more colours. They were criticised a lot because of their unfinished looks.
